i decided to make my posts weeeklyy that way they're not as sporadic and i feel worse when an update has hardly any images

SO. i've started to do a comic daily.. i've done 7 so far, it's tough to get the hang of and i have no idea how to translate my humor into it as i do with like comments on tegakie and stuff? but yeah..

im trying to be more mindful of volume when i make my shadows and proportions when i gesture it out first i think it looks much more ""thought out"" and i like bein able to use my brush pen toooo

i got about 30 prismacolor markers the other day im trying to learn how to use them so far i just keep smudging the colors with ink and bleeding outside the lines sigh well here you go

mini post on brush crap

uhhh so here's what happened my tablet pen literally fell into an abyss and it was gone for like a week or so and so i did a lot(? subjective) of drawing on paper with my brush pen. BUT. that brush pen was dying and shitty and then it actually died. but now the tablet pen is back!

AND i ordered a pentel pocket brush pen and let me tell you it is AWWWESOMEEEE! here's my comparison:

SAKURA MICRON BRUSH PEN $2.00 or something

• Felt tipped so not actually a "brush" per se but does offer variations in line width

• due to this, it frayed pretty easily and caused a "double-line" effect which is cool if that's what you're going for stylistically but horrible if you want to do fine linework

• sakura ink is really shitty!! all my micron drawings fade when i erase them or fade after like a month or whatever. they don't "sink" into the paper at all, no matter what the texture or weight

PENTEL POCKET BRUSH PEN $doesn't matter buy it

• is a gift from god

• has actual bristles!! this is really cool and you run absolutely no worry of straining the tip like you would with a felt pen. it has very fast "bounce back" in that it reverts back to its brush shape fast and seamlessly

• the default catridge ink is much, much better than the microns and while not the darkest or thickest you could get from ink (See: speedball ink) it does not fade when erased and dries at a good rate

• can still produce the same dry brush effect if you make fast strokes, obviously not as true to life as an actual dry brush but pretty good for sketching purposes

• no problem with super fine lines and super thick lines which is super important to me

so yeah that's my spiel on brush pens. in the mean time i've been studying screenplay writing and dabbling in "making comics" by scoot mccooch to get a better understanding of how to develop plots and characters. pretty cool stuff
